As with most camping gear, comfort must be weighed against the convenience of transporting the chairs to the site. In addition, one must consider the effects of weather on chairs that will be used primarily in the outdoors. As a result, beach chairs are usually not sufficient to serve as camping chairs. Their construction are not heavy-duty enough to withstand the elements. Instead, it is better to buy a chair designed specifically with camping in mind.
Folding Chairs
The majority of camping chairs are various sorts of folding chairs. A folding chair has the advantage over other chairs of being easily portable and easily packed in the trunk of a car. A folding camping chair will be designed to be especially light-weight and outdoor-resistant.
Backpack Chairs
If you enjoy hiking and still with to bring chairs with you, there are many options for purchasing what is called a “backpack chair”. These products are chairs specifically designed to be especially light-weight, and to fit onto your backpack, keeping your hands free. Of course, as with any hiking gear decision, you will need to decide how much weight you wish to carry, but for those to whom having a chair while camping is especially important, a backpack chair is a quite viable option.
Camping Chairs and Table Sets
Often folding chairs will come in sets together with a folding table set. This can usually provide a bargain price over buying the chairs and tables separately. However, there may still be some problems to consider. As the chairs are designed to fit around the central table, they may not be as comfortable for when you simply wish to lounge.
